This Privacy Policy describes how Shruti Kumari ("ShrutiAI", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Better Eat mobile application ("App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from your Google account.

Profile Information: During onboarding, you provide dietary preferences, health goals, age, and cuisine region to personalize your experience.

Meal Photos: When you use the meal analysis feature, your photos are sent to our secure server for AI analysis. Photos are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored on our servers.

Meal History: Nutritional analysis results (food name, calories, macronutrients, health score, and AI-generated tips) are stored in your account so you can review past meals.

Usage Data: We may collect anonymous usage analytics such as app opens, feature usage, and crash reports to improve the App.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide AI-powered meal analysis and nutritional insights
To personalize dietary suggestions based on your profile
To maintain your meal history and track your progress
To authenticate your account and keep it secure
To improve the App's features and fix issues

3. AI Processing

Better Eat uses Google Gemini AI to analyze your meal photos. When you submit a photo:

The image is sent to our secure Supabase Edge Function
Our server forwards it to Google Gemini AI for analysis
The AI generates nutritional estimates and returns them to you
Your photo is not stored permanently on any server after analysis

            Important: AI-generated nutritional information is estimated and may not be fully accurate. Do not rely on it for medical or clinical dietary decisions.
        

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Supabase — Authentication, database, and server functions (hosted in secure cloud infrastructure)
Google Gemini AI — Meal photo analysis (processed server-side only; your API key is never exposed)
Google Play Services — App distribution and optional in-app purchases
Expo / React Native — App framework and build services

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase with Row Level Security (RLS) enabled, meaning you can only access your own data. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS). While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

6. Camera and Photo Access

The App requests camera permission to let you photograph your meals for analysis. Gallery access allows you to select existing photos. These permissions are used solely for meal analysis and are never used for any other purpose. You can revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings.

7. Data Retention

Account data: Retained as long as your account is active
Meal history: Retained as long as your account is active
Meal photos: Not permanently stored; processed in real-time only
Upon account deletion: All your data is permanently removed from our servers

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your personal data through the App
Update your profile information at any time
Delete your account and all associated data (Settings > Delete Account)
Withdraw consent by stopping use of the App

9. Children's Privacy

Better Eat is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App or communicated via email. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
